last week: snow in march

Ummm, how is it Monday?  We woke up to a puking child at 5:45 this morning, but after the fun little time-change yesterday, it felt more like the middle of the night.  Needless to say, we are dragging around here, and we are really hoping this is a short little bug that is not contagious.

So, how about we start off with a baby pic?  Because there's not much better than morning snuggles with this cutie.

These two have been making little art creations all week.  They are always drawing and cutting things out and taping things together.

And this guy has been really into his Snap Circuits lately.  I am definitely thinking we need to invest in one of the larger sets because he was at it for hours.

After a crazy week of weather, including thunderstorms, hail storms, and a beautiful 75 degree day, we woke up to snow on Saturday.

This totally cracked me up.....

So we made homemade biscuits and gravy since calories totally don't count when there's snow on the ground, and we enjoyed a cozy day indoors.

And to all you other women who lose your husbands this week to the madness, I stand with you!
;)

Hope you all have a fantabulous week!

last week: the flu

The kids are I came down with the flu last week, and it was all kinds of awful.  We basically spent 7 straight days laying around, which is really not too much fun when you feel like crapola.  Somehow, Bobby managed to stay healthy and he took wonderful care of us all, but I think we were quite a handful!  Something tells me that he was more than happy to leave us and go back to work!

We are trying to get back in the swing of things this week, but we all still seem to be dragging a bit.  Is it Friday yet?

last week: i've got nothing

Yep, this is me this morning.  Except this little guy is way cuter.

After a week of Valentine's-filled fun, our weekend was a busy one.  Apparently, it was so busy that I took zero pictures.  Not a one.

I feel like I do really well at snapping pictures on regular days, but on busy days, like holidays and such, I am awful!  And often times, those are the moments that I want to remember most and scrapbook for the kids.  Oh well, something else I need to work on!

On Saturday, we played musical furniture and did some major rearranging.  And yeah - I underestimated how difficult this would be!  I think Bobby had to remind himself a few dozen times of his love for me throughout the process!  And after all of that, I'm not sure how I feel about the changes - I still need to style everything and then I just need to live with it for a bit.  I do not always do well with change, y'all!

After that, Bobby had to rush off to work, and the kids and I headed over to my parent's house for a big family dinner.  One of my uncles was in town, and we had fun catching up with everyone.  It was so late by the time we got home and we all got into bed, so I was majorly dragging Sunday morning!  But we made it to church, and then my mom watched Caleb and Ashlynn for me (Bobby was working again) so Makayla and I could go to a birthday party for her little bff.  It was pretty far away, so by the time we got back home, it was dinner and bed for the kiddos.  I then stayed up way too late to try and get the house back in order before our Monday.

And this is why I try to not plan things on Mondays!  After the weekend, sometimes we just need a day to regroup!

How's your week starting off?

last week: the glorious lack of plans

This last week was a slow one around here,  Well, I should say it was slow for the kids and me.  It's been a busy couple of weeks at work for Bobby!  It's rare that a week comes along where we don't have much planned, so when it does, I have learned to really appreciate it!

We took a break from the playing on Saturday to give Caleb a much-needed haircut.  He despises haircuts, so we put them off as long as possible!  While Caleb suffered through that, the girls played on our bed and took selfies.  I have a million pictures on my phone that look similar to this.....

After that, these four snuggled up to watch Star Wars.  Bobby has been so excited to go through all of them with the kiddos.  They are on Episode IV right now and they are loving it!  Star Wars is not my thing (I know I probably shouldn't admit that!), so when Ashlynn started fussing after two point five minutes of sitting still, she and I went off and did some housework.  Because yes, I would rather do laundry than watch Star Wars!

And while everyone else in the country, and my husband, was watching some football game that is apparently a big deal, the big kids and I snuggled up and read through a few books together.

Don't worry, I totally dvr'd the game so that I can fast-forward through it and watch all of the commercials later!

And that, my friends, is how we did a lot of nothing this weekend.  It looks like this week will require a bit more from us, so here goes!

Happy Monday, friends!

last week: this and that

Where in the world did last week go?!!  We have been super busy with a lot of extra extended-family happenings and visiting, and then we went straight into Labor Day weekend.  I'm not sure when the last time was that I got out our real camera, and even my phone hasn't been put to much use as far as picture-taking is concerned.  So once again, my pictures are lacking and I am resolving to do better!

We have managed to get moving and get outside, even with the unbearable heat last week.  The kids and I raced each other, and they eagerly pointed out to me that they are much, much faster than I am!  Something else I am looking to resolve!

Throw in some relaxing, some just-dancing, some schooling, some churching, and a tiny bit of sleeping, and that's our week in a nutshell!

last week: relaxing and reminiscing

Last week was a pretty standard one around here.  We are still getting back into our afternoon routines on school days.  Second grade homework has been a little more time-consuming than we are used to, so it has been a bit of an adjustment for all of us as we figure out what is working and what things we need to change.

By the time the weekend rolled around, we were all craving some downtime!  Bobby actually had the entire weekend off of work, which almost never happens, so we soaked up every last minute with him!  We did a lot of reading and crafting and laying around, and we grilled out for every meal.  It was a perfect summer weekend.

We did sneak out for a couple of hours on Saturday to take the kids to our old stomping grounds.  Many years ago, Bobby and I both worked at a restaurant located in a nearby shopping mall, which is where the two of us met.  The mall has been empty for years, and they are finally tearing it all down and making way for all things new.  We wanted to get a few pics outside of it before it was too late!  Even though we drive by all of the time, it had been so long since either of us had seen it up close.  We had fun reminiscing together about days gone by!

last week: my brother and college

This last weekend, I went away with my parents to get my little brother all settled into his new college digs.

I swear it feels like he was born just yesterday.

In actuality, I was fifteen years old and my brother, JaiSun, was twelve when Christian was born. He was an incredible surprise, but we couldn't have been happier. And it turns out, as is always the case, that God, in His infinite wisdom, knew the best way to complete our little family. I cannot imagine us without him.

Somehow, the years have passed by, and he is now old enough to have graduated high school and is going away to college. It was so much fun to spend the weekend with him and get to see where he'll be staying. Even though he's my brother, I can't help but want to mother him just a little, so it was nice to be able to help my parents get him all set up.

So that was my week! My awesome hubby did a great job of holding down the fort while I was away, and now we are back into the normal swing of things around here!

last week: summer ends and school begins

Well, our summer break has officially come to an end!  Other than Makayla finishing up swimming lessons, we were pretty low key around here last week.  There was some game playing, some costume wearing, some lemonade selling, lots of laying around, and then, we sent our boy off to school.  I will have to blog all about that another day, but I will say that we are super proud of him!

We are slowly but surely getting back into our routines and schedules and such.  And now that summer break is over, this mama is itching for some fall weather!

last week: haircuts and baptisms

School starts back this week for us, so last week was all about making sure we are ready to go!  We went shopping for all of the school supplies and shoes and whatnot, and the kids got some much needed haircuts.  It was the very first one for Makayla!  Bobby has been pretty set against her getting one - I think it was a really big milestone for his baby girl that he just wasn't quite ready for.  But one day he realized how incredibly long her hair actually was, so he finally relented!  She did great, and she got to get a pretty braid and princess crown so she was a happy girl.

The week ended with my baby brother, Christian, being baptized!  Watching him grow up and grow into who he is has been such an incredible privilege.  He is about to go off to college, and I cannot think of a more strong, bold statement for him to make at this point in his life than to proclaim Jesus as his Lord and Savior!

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.  The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
