fall crafting

well, fall is in full swing at our house. this is my favorite time of year - even more so now that we have kids.

we've been doing lots of baking, burning our pumpkin spice candles, and staying in jammies a little longer than normal whenever possible.

so we thought it was time to do some crafting.

we tried doing a fingerprint tree, and little man really did a great job. finger-paint used to really freak him out, so we are very happy that he does so well with it now.

when we were finished with them, i held up my tree, which i thought at least somewhat resembled a tree.

anyways, this was our conversation.....

me: Caleb, what is it?
him: paint!
me: well, yes, but what does it look like?
him: {blank stare}
me: does it look like a tree?
him: {silly laugh} no!

he was so funny, acting like a tree was the most ridiculous thing i could have said!

so much for my artistic skills!

we also tried painting some pumpkins, because i am not yet brave enough to try carving them with our little guy.

and a parting shot, cause he's just so darn cute.....

our summer in pictures

well, summer break is over, school is back in, and we are getting into a new routine around here. and i have been the world's worst blogger and neglected this here blog of ours. so, since free time is scarce, and since i have no energy to come up with words, this post consists of my favorite pictures taken this summer.

but first, two little disclaimers:

1. there are a lot of pictures. and yes, this is after i narrowed it down.

2. these are all pictures of my kids. if you don't think my kids are cute, well, then, shame on you! and what are you doing here?

lazy summer days

ha.

whoever first called summer days lazy did not have a 3-year-old and an 8-month-old.

our days are busy and full with never a dull moment, but we are enjoying ourselves, for the most part, and trying to fit in some fun summer outings.

i was going through all the pics we've taken all summer long, and realized that i really needed to update this here blog. which i already knew.

so first up, a visit to the zoo.....

makayla was there too, although she slept through most of it.

it was a really hot one that day, which you can pretty much say every day around here. we got rained out at the end, so we ran to the car in a downpour and got loaded up just in time for it to stop and clear up again. oh well.
