snow days.....take two

Well, I let myself get behind on blogging again. The last couple of months have been brutally busy around here, but I don't want to miss out on documenting some of it. So, even though it feels weird to be posting about snow while it's so warm outside right now, I'm going to anyways!

We ended up getting another round of snow that was even bigger than the first one.  The kids had never been sledding before, so we decided to get out there and see if it was the good sledding kind of snow, and it most definitely was!  Since we don't have a sled, we just used our fancy laundry basket until a sweet neighbor took pity on us and let us borrow hers.  Bobby and I both hadn't been sledding since we were kids, and I had forgotten how much fun it was!  We all had a blast, and the kids are still talking about it.  

When they were finished sledding, the kids asked Bobby to just pull them around on it - which he did, of course, since he's such a good daddy.  Caleb asked him to take them to India, but Bobby told them that India was probably too far away for them to go.  So Makayla said, "OK.  How about Cleveland?"  Ha!  These kiddos sure keep us laughing!

snow days

It has been a crazy couple of weeks around here!  We finally got some winter weather last week - a little bit of snow and a lot of ice - which in the South means that the city basically shut down.  Caleb was out of school and Bobby had a couple of days off of work, so our family went into hibernation mode and it was pretty incredible.  I feel like we are constantly on the go these days, so I was grateful to have an excuse to stay put and soak up some time with my sweet little family.

We did some playing outside, lego building, crafting, reading, movie watching, wii playing, and a lot of cooking and baking.  And we did most of it in our pajamas, which made it all that much more fun!

So, we got our winter fix in!  Now bring on the spring weather!

I know that people in other parts of the country laugh at what we call a snow day around here, but we had our first one of the season last week.  It was more like a light dusting, but it was enough to make the schools close and make the kids happy, so it was good enough for me!  (We just wish it had been enough to keep daddy home from work!)  By the time we got up and dressed and out the door, it was practically gone.  But the kids still had fun running around, making footprints, and putting on a little dance routine.

Caleb thought that the snow meant that it was Christmas day already, so we had to go look at the calendar and have a little talk!  He now has it all figured out and he lets me know how many days are left every morning when he gets up.  Today has us at the seven day mark!
