#tbt stories - it's fall, y'all

It's fall, y'all!  This is my favorite season, by far!

One of my favorite things that we do every year is to visit the pumpkin patch.  They always have an old truck set up for picture-taking, and this was the first year that we tried to get the kids to sit together on it.  It was so difficult to get them both to look at the camera at the same time, and this is the best we got!

Hey - no one is crying or has their finger in their nose, so I'll take it!

#tbt stories - a couple of things

Today's Throwback Thursday is brought to you by a couple of things.

The cutest things around in my humble, completely unbiased opinion!

#tbt stories - football

In case you don't already know.....football's back.  Back again.

My husband is a happy man.

This picture is from the fall of 2008.  We had gone away for the weekend with my family, and if I remember correctly, we spent our time eating, watching football, and loving on our sweet little chunk of a baby boy, because look at him!

Also, I guess you can tell who our team is!!!

#tbt stories - those cheeks

This is one of the pictures taken at Makayla's nine-month session.  We were trying for awhile to capture her smile, but she was giving us a whole bunch of classic Makayla faces instead.  Turns out, those are my favorite!

What I wouldn't give to be able to squish those chunky cheeks again!

Slow down, time!

#tbt stories - going to china

June 2013

Caleb had gotten himself ready this morning, and when I asked him where he was going dressed like that, he said, "I'm going to China."

He also had his teddy bear and iPad in his backpack, all ready to go with him.  Because if you're going all the way to China, what more could you need?!!

#tbt stories - the girl's many faces

This was taken two summers ago, back when every time we tried to take Makayla's picture, she would bring her hands up and make some ridiculous face!  So thankful she's outgrown that particular phase and we are now able to capture her beautiful smile again!

#tbt stories - the boy at the beach

Caleb at the beach in Savannah, Georgia. 2010.

Because I could really go for a beach vacation right about now.

And also, that hair.

#tbt stories - haircuts

The kids have appointments for haircuts today, so I thought I'd throw it back to a picture of one of Caleb's very first haircuts.  This one was not his first - that one came at the ripe old age of four weeks.  Yes, weeks.  Our sweet boy was born with a head full of hair, and by four weeks old it was already covering up his ears!  This time around he was a whole four months old, and it was a much more pleasant experience since, you know, he could hold up his own head and all.

And y'all - don't even get me started on those chubby cheeks and legs!

Eleven years ago tomorrow, we said "I do."

Best decision ever.

#tbt stories - swimming

Today I'm sharing a picture of my sweet little water babies.  This was taken three years ago at a really fun pool party.  And side note - I really miss that chunky baby stage!  And those pigtails!  I miss pigtails!  They both still love being in the water, although there's no way you could get Caleb to wear floaties these days!

Nothing makes you realize how quickly time is going by than to look at old pictures!

#tbt stories - school days

Talking about Caleb's school year had me thinking back to past school days.  This picture is from May of 2012.  It was the last day of his first pre-k year.  This was a tough year for him, but he had an incredible teacher who holds such a special place in my heart.  She ended up being his teacher for just over two years, and I know that he is where he is today in large part because of her.

It's so easy when you're caught up in all of the day-to-day happenings to forget where it is you actually started.  But when I look at this picture, it really does all come back to me, and I realize all over again just how far our boy has come.

#tbt stories - his first word

I was looking back through some pictures from summers past and came upon this one.  Caleb is about sixteen months old here, and oh man, what a squishy little chunk he was!  I remember this day so well.  Right before we took this picture, Bobby had been walking across the field towards us.  When Caleb looked up and saw him, he was so excited and yelled out "dada!".  That was his very first word, and actually, it was his only word for a really long time.  We had no idea at that time what was in store for us, and it's almost a little strange to think back on those days.  We've sure been on one wild ride since then, but I am so very proud of our boy and the incredible chatterbox that he is today!

#tbt.....halloween past

Just a quick look back at some of their past looks.  My personal favorite was when they were Eeyore and Piglet.  I cannot believe that was three years ago!

#tbt.....the pumpkin patch

We are planning our annual trip to the pumpkin patch this weekend, which is one of my favorite things that we do every year.  These pics are from Caleb's very first visit when he was about 18 months old.  He was not in the mood for being still and taking pictures, but Bobby was determined.  So he did what any good daddy would do, and he busted out "The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round", complete with hand motions.  Well, Caleb thought that was hysterical, and the rest of our visit was much more enjoyable!

#tbt.....first day of school

Well, our summer break is officially over.  Our little man started first grade yesterday.

Ummmm, seriously?!!!

We took his first day of school pics yesterday afternoon, which made me want to go back and look at his very first pics just three short years ago.

And now I want to go snuggle my babies and ask them, yet again, to please stop growing so fast.
