easter 2015

Another wonderful Easter season is in the books.  This year we decorated eggs like we normally do, and we also did a resurrection garden for the first time.  The kids loved this (don't be fooled by their faces in the pictures - they just don't like posing for pictures these days!), and I'm thinking it will become a yearly tradition for us.  I was afraid the grass wouldn't grow on it since I don't exactly have a green thumb, but the grass actually grew so well that we had to cut it because it was taller than the crosses!  We loved looking every morning to see how much it had grown overnight.

We kept the garden in the center of the kitchen table, and it sparked some great conversations during meal times.  I just love seeing little glimpses into the hearts of these kiddos and being there with them as they are learning, and processing, and growing.  Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm teaching them well - the enemy sure has a way of filling my heart with self-doubt.  But God is so faithful, and the kids will say things that let us know that they really are getting it.  Their childlike faith is such a beautiful and precious gift.  I really do treasure these moments with them.

time with dad

Bobby really loves to golf, although he sure doesn't have much time to these days!  Caleb has been asking to play, so they took their first trip to the driving range together.  They had so much fun - but really, I think these two could have fun doing anything together!  I am pretty sure that there are many more golf days to come for my guys.

He took Makayla to our church's Daddy Daughter Dance, and this girl loved everything about their night together.  It was so much fun to get her all fancied up for it.  As soon as she was dressed, she ran into our room to look in our mirror, and she immediately started smiling and giggling at herself.  It was the cutest thing!  They had so much fun dancing away, and she fell asleep about two minutes into the way home!

I am so very grateful for the relationship that these kiddos have with their daddy.  They absolutely adore him, and he absolutely adores them, and this mama sure loves watching them together.

snow days.....take two

Well, I let myself get behind on blogging again. The last couple of months have been brutally busy around here, but I don't want to miss out on documenting some of it. So, even though it feels weird to be posting about snow while it's so warm outside right now, I'm going to anyways!

We ended up getting another round of snow that was even bigger than the first one.  The kids had never been sledding before, so we decided to get out there and see if it was the good sledding kind of snow, and it most definitely was!  Since we don't have a sled, we just used our fancy laundry basket until a sweet neighbor took pity on us and let us borrow hers.  Bobby and I both hadn't been sledding since we were kids, and I had forgotten how much fun it was!  We all had a blast, and the kids are still talking about it.

When they were finished sledding, the kids asked Bobby to just pull them around on it - which he did, of course, since he's such a good daddy.  Caleb asked him to take them to India, but Bobby told them that India was probably too far away for them to go.  So Makayla said, "OK.  How about Cleveland?"  Ha!  These kiddos sure keep us laughing!
