a day at the patch

we spent yesterday morning at a local pumpkin patch.

i had never been before (if i went as a kid, i don't remember), and i was pleasantly surprised at all of the things there were to do. calling it a "pumpkin patch" is a pretty big understatement!

little man gets a little uneasy sometimes in different settings like this, so he was definitely not letting go of us. there was a little bit of this going on.....

but mostly, he was happy.....

and sometimes, he was really happy.....

and sometimes, he was hysterical.....

but then we saw one of these.....

and Caleb wasn't really sure what to think.....

"what in the world IS THAT?"

then he went through the maze with daddy.....

and then we made him pose for more pictures, because we just can't seem to get enough of him.....

our little ham man.....

birthday party

yesterday, little man was invited to a birthday party.

this little guy is one year old.....

how cute is he?

he truly is a little miracle.

we are so thankful that he is here, and we are so glad that he and Caleb are so close together in age. i hope that they get to be good playmates for each other as they get older.

the children were each announced as they entered, as princes and princesses. they each had their own seat awaiting them with a crown to wear.

we kept little man contained to his stroller for as long as possible.....

we were able to sneak the crown on for a quick picture before he realized it was there and tried to eat it.....

here is the birthday boy eating his cake.....

and obviously enjoying it.....

because he is smart and he knows that cake is yummy.

when Caleb turned one, he threw his cake on the ground.

and the ice cream.

i thought something might be wrong with him.

i mean, who does that?

he still doesn't seem too interested in sweets.

Bobby doesn't like sweets either, so i guess Caleb gets this from him.

i like sweets, so this makes me sad.

still, i love the little man (and the big man), with or without sweets.....

it's very rare that Caleb and i are actually in a picture together, since i seem to always be behind the camera!

yeah for birthday parties!

pajama day

oh yeah. i have a blog. maybe i should post something?

we have been busy bees around here. i'm not even sure what we've been doing, i just know we've been busy!

so quick updates:

my dad is doing great. surgery went well and his recovery has been good. he actually went back to work today.

it's still fall. (have i mentioned that i love the fall?)

i still have no pumpkin bread.

the titans still have not won a game.

and this little man is still faster than me.

that is what half the pictures i take look like these days. apparently, 17-month-olds do not like to sit still for pictures.

Bobby had a day off yesterday, so we ended up just hanging out in the living room all afternoon and had some family time. Caleb stayed in his pj's all day, and he played.....

and played.....

and took some rides.....

and caught up on some reading.....

it was a really good, fun day.

seriously, with all the business lately, it was so wonderful to just take a little time out and regroup as a family.

we decided we might need to have pajama days more often.
